Who doesn’t want that clear flawless skin? Wanting to treat your skin great so it will look awesome, however some of the things we do to our skin can sometimes cause more damage over time. We’ve listed some of the usual things we do on a daily basis that wreck our skin.
- Not washing face before bed
We sometimes think that it’s okay to sleep with makeup or not just washing our face before we get our beauty sleep, but this actually causes more harm than we think. It only takes a night to clog pores and this will cause breakouts. To maintain your clear complexion, don’t go to bed with all the dirt, oil & pollution on your face.
The nicotine in cigarettes stops blood from flowing into the veins. Blood contains oxygen and other nutrients that needs to reach the skin. This leads to having wrinkles and premature skin aging.
- Skipping sunscreen
“UV light leads to both premature aging and skin cancers,” Joshua Zeichner, MD, a dermatologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Sunscreens block the ultraviolet rays from the sun that damages our skin. Always apply sunscreens every morning before you go out and reapply every 2 hours.
- Consuming lots of sugar and not fruits & vegetables
Studies have found that lots of sugar intake can damage your skin. Sugar-heavy diet can accelerate your skin aging. Eating fruits and vegetables instead can help repair your skin because it has antioxidants in it.
- Not drinking enough water
If you want to achieve that healthy glow of your skin, you must drink 3.7 liters (for men) or 2.7 liters (for women). Drinking sodas and other sweetened drink cause dryness to your skin. So drink enough water to help your body flush out toxins and achieve that balanced glow!
- Not getting enough sleep
Depriving to sleep badly affects your body’s collagen production, skin hydration & texture. Lack of sleep can also cause breakouts and other skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis and skin allergies. Make sure you get that beauty rest every night for that healthy skin!
